A downloadable game for Windows
This is a game that I made probably back in 2015-2016 or so, with work on it perhaps even earlier than that! The game, called HIT, is about a group of killer robots sent back in time to kill specific targets (as in the Terminator franchise) for fun and profit. However, there's a catch; you take one hit to kill, as do most enemies!
Collect shields and lives to progress, and try to get the highest score you can!
Controls and the like are listed in the README document in the file folder. Also, fair warning, the game isn't well optimized, and may be slower on older machines. I apologize for this; again, it was one of my first projects, so I wasn't very good at this.
I really wanted to make a roguelike at this point in my life, and took a lot of inspiration from games like Nuclear Throne and the original Binding of Isaac, as well as Spelunky. I also took inspiration from Terminator, as mentioned earlier. However, I also wanted the game to have a frantic, almost arcade feel to it, as in such games as Smash TV. The game overall helped me learn much more about how to use Game Maker (which I still use to this day) and develop a more consistent art style, given that it was the first game I ever made using a limited palette, which I also still do today!
The game was actually pretty much finished by the time I set it aside to do other things, though I needed music for it desperately.
This game was brought out of the depths of my dead-game-hell for the 2019 Fragment Jam! Have a look if you'd like!
